HVAC & Water Heater Pricing Guide

If you are considering replacing your air conditioner, furnace, or water heater in Chicago area and surrounding communities, you may be concerned about costs. Deljo Heating, Cooling & Plumbing created this HVAC Pricing Guide to help homeowners understand what to expect before scheduling an in-home estimate. This guide provides starting installation prices, monthly payment examples for various air conditioners, furnaces, and water heaters, and a comparison of features for our good, better, and best equipment options.

Each home in Chicago suburbs is different, so HVAC or water heater installation costs can vary based on equipment size and efficiency, ductwork, venting, electrical or gas upgrades, system accessibility, code requirements, and other factors. To provide transparency, Deljo Heating, Cooling & Plumbing outlines the most common factors that influence pricing, so you understand where your investment goes.

Use this guide to compare AC replacement costs in Chicago, then contact our team to discuss the best equipment and installation options for your home.

Air Conditioning Installation Pricing Guide*

When choosing a new air conditioning system, you can select from three performance tiers—Good, Better, and Best—priced as complete installations that include both the outdoor condenser and the indoor evaporator coil. The Good option ($7,500) features a reliable single-stage unit, the Better option ($10,500) upgrades to a quieter, two-stage system for improved humidity control, and the Best option ($14,000) provides a premium, variable-speed system for maximum efficiency and comfort.

If you prefer to replace only the outdoor condenser while keeping your existing indoor coil, you can deduct $1,000 from the Good tier or $2,000 from the Better and Best tiers, though replacing both components together is typically recommended to ensure peak performance and maintain manufacturer warranties.

Water Heater Installation Pricing Guide*

Choosing a new water heater comes down to more than just the purchase price. It also means deciding which type of system best fits your home, hot water needs, and installation. Our water heater options start at $2,000 for a Bradford White atmospheric-vent gas water heater, a traditional tank-style system featuring Bradford White’s ICON System®, Defender Safety System®, Hydrojet® sediment-reduction technology, and Vitraglas® tank lining.

For homes that require greater venting flexibility, our Bradford White power-vent option starts at $3,000 and uses a powered blower that allows exhaust to be vented horizontally or vertically through a wall or roof. For homeowners looking for premium efficiency and tankless performance, the Navien NPE-240A2 starts at $8,000 and combines a 0.95 UEF rating with dual stainless steel heat exchangers, built-in ComfortFlow® recirculation, and continuous hot-water delivery of up to 11.2 GPM depending on temperature rise.

The final installed price can vary based on venting, gas-line, electrical, plumbing, and other installation requirements.
